Today is my Besties wedding anniversary. Congratulations to RW and KW. I’ve known RW since my senior year of HS. I met KW a couple of years after I graduated. I was lucky to stand up at their wedding and have been around for the birth of their son. We vacation together all of the time including Cabo last October. They’ve always shown the example of what love is. Don’t get me wrong…they’ve had their ups and downs, but it’s mainly ups.
What do I mean by examples? Well, it’s the way RW looks at his wife when she doesn’t know it. They grocery shop together! They always have each other’s back. They always show affection to each other. You just know that they’re in it for life. They are willing to change for each other. RW had a bad smoking habit and he quit 8 years ago for his wife.
I must say that I’ve always been a little bit jealous of their relationship. I wanted mine to turn out the same way, but it didn’t. However, what they have is something for me to aspire to. It’s funny, but I don’t really believe in the whole happily ever after thing. Something generally comes along to fuck it up. But I do see them as having a happily ever after. I guess I don’t necessarily see it for myself.

I had a nice discussion with RW and KW yesterday. We were talking about the advantages of leasing a vehicle versus purchasing. I have a black Hemi Dodge Durango 04’, which I absolutely love, although it’s a little big. But my big black beast hauls ass! I love knowing that with a slight push of the accelerator, I can maneuver where ever I need the beast to be. I’m thinking I’d like a car, and keep the Durango for my trips to Tahoe, etc. But the car has to have some guts.
I’ve always had a love of fast, powerful cars. My first car was a Peugeot, but I bought that from a friend that was moving and never drove it. It ended up with my Mom. My first real car that was completely mine was a 76 Datsun 280Z. Man, that car was fun. I drove the snot out of it and passed it on to my brother. I then bought the Isuzu Rodeo off the lot. That was a great vehicle, but it was for living up in the Sierra foothills. I needed something with 4-wheel drive that could get me out of the snow if necessary and get me to work. Plus we had every intention of starting a family.
Once I found out a family wasn’t possible, I bought a car that I termed my "Fuck You" vehicle to the ex. It was a 98 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX (all wheel drive turbo) with a moon roof. That freaking car was solid! I really miss that car! The insurance on that baby was higher than a Corvette, but so worth it! I had always done my research when it came to vehicles and I was looking for the Subaru SVX which was Subaru’s all wheel drive sports car. The last model was a 93, and I didn’t want one with a ton of miles on it. The Eclipse was an excellent substitute. After 99, they stopped making them in the all-wheel drive turbo, and they just got plain ugly.
I don’t know if I’ll go for a 4 door or a Coupe, but I’m more of a coupe girl. I’m leaning toward a Ford because they didn’t take bailout money. I really want to support an American Company that can take care of themselves. If I had my choice, I’d go for something like a Mustang or the new Ford Fusion. The front end of the Fusion looks like an Aston Martin Vanquish and l love that sleek look.
But for now, I’m paying off a few bills and trying to wrap up the house. Gotta be responsible!!!
After I got home from work today, I went out into the yard and kicked some more ass! I had a huge pile of wood that I hauled to the street for the quarterly trash pick up day. I got out the ax and did some serious swinging to make sure the wood fit the pile and I didn't go over. I'm a little sore, but I feel really good. My swings with the ax were solid...you can take a girl out of the woods, but you can't take the woods (or is that wood) from the girl! The ex is supposed to bring me back a chainsaw (There were 5 of them around here), but he hasn't done it yet, so old fashioned swinging was necessary. It's all good.
Until tomorrow peeps...hoping this blog finds you well and happy.
