One more...

So I made Lobster bisque from scratch and posted a pic on FB.  My cousin, who is studying to be a doctor and in the military says that she wants some, so I promised her that when she visits in Cali, that I'd make her some.

RH, my Jr. High crush also commented and then said that he's in Cali...why not him? So I told him that I would cook for him.  However, THAT IS ALL I WILL BE DOING!  I'm of a mind that he had his chance in Jr. High and if he didn't take it then, tough shit....I'm not the girl for you.  Not sure if it's the wine, the Kenny Chesney playing on the computer, or if I'm just a flatout bitch.  I'm not going back...only going forward.

I'm sure I'm going to hear it from my besties about my "rules" and how difficult I am.  I'm just not going to settle. Do you know what I mean? I settled for so long. I always thought it was me, and that I didn't deserve better, or that I deserved what I got... Not anymore.  No, I don't think I'm "God's Gift" to the earth, but I do have worth, I am fun, I am significant.  The man that I end the rest of my days with will be a worthy adversary, but a trusted companion. He will bring it...and I'll bring it back.

My bisque....

End of a Solid Weekend

So I was up by 7 a.m....again...because the yard guy said he was coming to get the last of my concrete.  I got dressed but saw how beautiful my angel was sleeping and shot off a couple of pictures.

I swear, when I look at her, I have the same feeling I did the moment I took her in my arms at the hospital.  She, like her two brothers (One my Son) and cousin "C" is the light to my darkness; The yin to my yang. Everything about her is magical and there isn't a thing on this earth that I wouldn't do to keep her safe, healthy and loved. And if anyone even thinks about harming a hair on her head, there is no measure to the steps I will take to make sure that POS will suffer....Damn, Dizzy just pulled a Sandra Bullock in Miss Congeniality... Breathe in...breathe out...Ok. I'm better now.

The yard guy was here 15 minutes early, but was out of here within a half hour.  I made the Beanster breakfast biscuits and we cuddled on the chaise and planned out our morning. We headed to Toys-R-Us because I wanted a football and we wanted to get a Croquet Set to play outside in the new cleanup yard.  The Croquet caddy needed to be put together, so I taught Beanster to use a phillips screwdriver, and away she went....
I thought she did a fabulous job. We then set about setting up the wickets and her geezer Auntie had to remember the rules. We actually ended up playing our own game and just had fun.  For it being a first time for her, she did really well. When she took her time at the shots her aim was dead on.  I can tell I have competition on my hands.

We didn't get around to tossing the football, but that's ok.  I know, girls don't usually have footballs, but I did play powder puff ball in high school and really liked it. I probably liked the physical part of it and I was pretty lethal on the field.  I figured this would be a fun way to get my arms back into shape, but I'm going to need a net to catch the ball because I know I'll have a hard time finding someone to throw the ball with.  Ah well.

My sister came and picked her up and talked about getting involved in evening skate sessions at the local rink. She asked me if I'd be interested and asked me if I used FaceBook and said that we need to connect there so she can keep me up to date on when they go.  People...It took every ounce of self-control I have to not cough "Bull Shit".  This chick has had me blocked for years, and she's a fucking fool if she thinks I don't know that.  UGH!!! It is what it is...but for God's sake, don't be fake about the whole damned thing. She does it for her daughter, but even Beanie knows that her Auntie and her Mommy don't get along...we're cordial.

After they left, the furniture people came and replaced the Chaise.  That thing really was busted, because the chaise, in recline mode, does not go almost flat...the last one did.  After cleaning the kitchen, I thought I might catch up on a few ZZZs while watching mindless television, since for some reason, when I went to watch Black Hawk Down, I was experiencing latency with Netflix...which is why I need to straighten out the Leviton Panel with all the wiring...something is effed up in there.  I'll watch BHD tonight in bed (I have not watched it all the way through I'm ashamed to say...shhhh). Anyway...just as I get into a good snooze...my effing Geezer Neighbor (the one with the property next to mine) decides on a Sunday late afternoon that now is the time to mow the acre of property.  He couldn't wait till tomorrow when I'm at work?  He's like 94 for Christ's sake, and he's retired.  He has nothing to do all day!  I had my doors open and screens closed, but after that, I was wide awake and couldn't go back to sleep...and I have one of those sleep deprived head aches.  Not serious...just there.

I need a sex marathon...you know, one of those 3-5 hour sessions where you're all sweaty and intense...That would so put me out.  Ah well, I'll have to depend upon wine and I'm going to make a lobster bisque for dinner.  Afterward, I'll crawl into bed and watch my movie and hopefully have a peaceful nights sleep.  Tuesday is Dance-Monkey-Dance day for Diz...and I'm going to need to tap this time.

I'm not complaining.  I had a really good productive weekend. I'm just wishing I was resting my head on a mans' chest to go to sleep.  Until tomorrow my friends....I hope you're doing what I wish I was doing.  Go find your guy/girl and snuggle.  It's one of those evenings. G'nite.

Finally...A Yard!

Today the tree people showed up just after 8 a.m. Boy, I can't believe the work that they did.  I have never seen one of those machines that the grind the stumps out with (Gee, is that called a Stump Grinder???), but it was something else.  It made short work of the stumps on the property, and I'm exceedingly happy about the whole thing!  It's a good thing that I hired someone to do this, because I think that machine in my hands would've been something to behold.  I would've ground every darned tree down just to have some fun with the machine.  It was quite awesome!

The job took longer than I thought, but the Mulberry tree is huge and they ended up taking quite a bit off of it.  This tree has always shaded the house and the squirrels jump from the roof onto the tree. Unfortunately, I've deprived the squirrels of their tree highway, so I'm sure I'm bound to hear it from them tomorrow...wonder what I did with that squirrel call that I had....

That poor tree is Nekid!!!

I also had them get rid of this one tree.  I don't know the history, but the damned tree was growing out of a metal garbage can.  My friend "R" wanted me to keep it, but no...I want the yard more.  So they hacked that one down.  They also pruned half of the other tree so that I could have more sunlight on the solar panels. Love it.  All and All, it was an extremely productive day.  After they left, I got out the lawnmower and made that yard my bitch.  I even reclaimed part of the ivy covered lawn.

My sister dropped off my Niece, whom I fondly call the "Beanster" aka "Beanie" and within 5 minutes, she's already walked through the screen on the front door, damaging the mesh on the bottom.  I can see that I won't be able to use these screens with her around. Ah well.

We invited my ex...her Uncle, over for dinner...BBQ ribs and "make your own Baked Potatoes" and watched the 3D version of Monsters Inc., ate popcorn and just had some fun.  God, I worship this girl.  Here's a couple more pics, but I got to go.  I'll blog more tomorrow.

What A Day

The day starts early with an 8 a.m. hair appointment.  My Girl "H" is the total bomb. We decided that head massage needed to be in this blog.  When she rinses my hair, she always gives me a scalp massage, and I always tell her that if I could find the man that could do the same magic with his fingers that she does, I would blow him every day of the week and 6 ways from Sunday.  She always laughs when I say this, but I'm serious. It's friggin awesome!

Afterward, I headed to Tokyo Fro's for lunch with an old flame.  What a blast!!  I have to say the men in my life really know how to compliment me (good and bad).  He was messing with me saying that I must be part of the rainbow coalition because of my independence. I told him that I'm definitely not a LESBIAN!!!  Sorry, I love men too much.  He said he was glad to hear it because it would be a loss to the men of the world. Goofball!  He also said I looked much younger than when we dated, and we dated in my 20's.  What a schmoozer!  We had fun catching up and he showed me pics of his kids, wife and granddaughter.  He has a reason to be proud.  I'm looking forward to our next lunch.

After lunch I spent a half hour on a work conference call and then I headed home.  Most of the yard was cleaned up, but they have to come back and finish.  They did get most of it though. I'm really happy with the way the yard is shaping up.  The tree people will be here in the morning, and we'll see how it goes from there.

The Clear View guy "N" came and put my retractable screens in.  I LOVE THEM!!  It's exactly what the doors needed.  And "N" is completely adorable! He's 32 and has some awesome tats on his arms. He ended up sticking around after the installation and drinking margaritas with me.  My BFF "C" came over and joined us.  We were laughing and having a great time, when my BFF "D" called and came over with her man nicknamed "Paco". She brought dinner and we all ate and had a great time.  They regaled "N" with tales about the old "Evil Dead" movie, so we pulled it up on Netflix and watched it.

"N' didn't leave here until after 11.  I think he likes me.  But he's too young for me!  At least he owns his home and stuff.  He wants to come back and install my home theatre speakers for me and gave me his personal cell number....sweet!  Dizzy is feeling like she hasn't "lost" it!

Ok, I have to go because my BFFs "C" and "D" are still here and I think we're all sleeping in my bed tonight.  With the Beanster in my bed tomorrow, that means I won't get my bed to myself until Sunday night.  Ah well. (Yes, Paco is crashed on the sofa...ha ha ha).

G'nite Peeps!

Rain, Nails and the Prom!

RAIN

I love rainy days (except when the yard guy is supposed to come and clean up the crap from the property). I love the sound of the drops hitting the leaves in the trees and the patter of rain on the cement.  I love the fresh smell of the air and the combination of earth. I love walking in the rain and feeling the drops hit my face.  I don’t care that my hair gets wet and I look like a Yeti with iPod ear buds (gotta walk with music…come on!).

There’s something about the renewal of life through rain that restores my soul and changes my perspective. Not as much as the Ocean, mind you (that’s in 6-weeks), but still, it’s a cleansing process.  It’s raining today and I’m looking forward to an evening walk in it.

With every yin there’s a yang…i.e. the idiot drivers are always recognizable in the rain. They drive as though they’ve never experienced water hitting their car while in motion. Northern Cali is pretty bad, but I’ve driven in SoCal in the rain, and OMG…they should just call a city/county emergency…not for the rain, but for all the drivers, telling them it’s safer to stay in their homes.  I’m not sure if it’s the fact that they have no confidence in their abilities or no confidence in the abilities of their vehicles. I just don’t have the patience for it.

I see driving in the rain as a challenge...just like driving in the snow. Being in total sync with your ride and knowing the pull of the tires in relation to the road.  I'm a serious believer that you have to feel driving. If you don't, the most you'll ever be is a proficient driver...you'll never excel at it...like any other sport, hobby, love....

NAILS

Paid a visit to my Girlie "J" today. She always makes my day and my nails look fabulous.  Too bad they won't be running across a man's back...where they belong. Ah well, I digress.  She said for me to make sure to blog that "DIZ IS NOT A HOMEWREAKER!" Of course, the people who truly know me, know that.  It's those damned rules of mine....but she wasn't happy about a couple of the offers I've received and wanted me to make it clear, so I don't think I can make it any clearer than that!

She's always got my back and like my other BFFs, will tell it like it is and not worry that my feelings will be hurt, which is what I prefer. I got to meet her Mom today, and the funny thing is her Mom is a lot like my mom..but with her shit together.    She's doing the online dating thing through that one...POS?  (And here I always thought  POS stood for Piece of Shit...what a great dating site name!)  I probably have the acronym wrong... Sorry Peeps.  She showed off the pictures for her profile, and it was funny to watch "J" squirm when her mom is talking about this stuff.  Believe me Girlie...I know the feeling.

PROM

My other girlie KA has a teenage daughter with a dilemma.  One guy has asked her to the prom, another one is about to, and the third is the one whom she's been crushing on forever, and he hasn't asked yet.  What should she do?

This is my response:

"This is a tough one.  When is the Prom? Why is J taking so long?  It's been my experience that any man who's name starts with the letter "J" is trouble with a capital T!  I don't know what it is, but they're irresistible and difficult to say NO to.  I don't envy her one bit, as I have my own issues with a "J" going on.  I say, (and this is my impetuous heart speaking, and it rarely speaks out loud for fear of getting hurt) wait for J to ask, and if he doesn't then go to the Prom with friends.  Because Prom is a special night, if you can't be with the guy you want to be with, then why settle?  Just go with friends and have fun."

Not sure if my advice was sound, but..... I remember the Prom days...what a pain in the butt!  Dress shopping, shoe shopping, hair blah blah blah.  My criteria in HS was to never date the guys that go to my school. Always have a guy from another school as your prom date (gee...sounds kinda like my rule for not dating at work....hmmmm).  I always hated the crap talk that went around my school and I did not want to be the topic of discussion! By not dating a guy from my school, they could never go back to their friends and say that "we did it".  What I didn't realize is that by doing that, it still caused talk...always curious about what I was like.

There was one occasion that didn't fair well for me.  I was seeing a guy from a rival school and he had written a pretty graphic letter to me (as only a high school guy can).  Unfortunately, by letting a girlfriend I trusted read it, I soon found out that most of the guys in my class had read it too. I was pissed. Worse, the pressure was on because suddenly I was extremely popular....every guy wanted to see if the letter was an indication of my nature.  FUCKERS!!!  They never found out....and they never will!

I can't say high school wasn't fun. I wasn't part of the popular crowd per se.  I was in the middle.  I knew people from every class and had friends in all of the different clicks. I pretty much got along with everyone, more guys than girls.  That's probably because of my shop class.  I wasn't afraid to get my hands dirty and loved working on cars. Almost dropped a head on my foot (bad Diz...such a klutz), but managed to get one of the highest grades in the class.  There were 4 girls in my shop class (myself included), but within the first two weeks it was obvious why the other three were in the class...to look pretty and to nail guys!  Cha...whatever! I was of the mind that guys come and go...I need to know how to maintain a car, or I'd have to depend on some idiot to do it for me. I'm really not one of those chicks that batts their eyes and give the dumb mopey look, as if to say "I'm a dumb defenseless girl that needs help with this big bad car".  BAARRRFFF!  If I need help, I'll ask for it, but you'll know that I tried first before I opened my mouth.

I actually liked being at school more than I liked being at home. Home meant the Anti-Christ, school meant that I didn't have to be someone I wasn't. I only pulled good grades in the classes I wanted to. I purposely (like an idiot teenager) got bad grades in the classes the Anti-Christ wanted me to do well in...just to piss him off (and it worked like a charm because he's so effing predictable). Note to self...I'll have to find one of my goofy graduation pics...give ya'll something to laugh at.  They're packed away somewhere cuz I haven't unpacked all my boxes yet.

Ah well...enough of the tour down Dizzy's memory lane.  It's the weekend Peeps!  Tomorrow I have a hair appointment (get rid of the gray), a lunch date with an old flame I haven't seen in years (should be fun catching up), a conference call, then I have to hurry back home for the installation of my retractable screen doors and the yard guy.  I'm tired just thinking about all of it. I'll let ya know how it goes. G'nite!

How Strong Is Your Will?

“THE STRENGTH OF THE CONSTITUTION LIES IN THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE TO DEFEND IT.”  -  Thomas Edison

I know I’ve been writing about froufrou stuff, but when this quote came up, it gave me food for thought.  I think the majority of you will agree that at this point in our history our Constitution is losing its strength. The will of the people is not strong. People are not willing to sacrifice to defend our constitution and it shows.  Please note…when I use the term people, I’m speaking in general terms. The majority of the people I hang with would willingly lay it down for this Country, Constitution and way of life. So would the members of our armed forces. Sadly, we’re outnumbered.

We live in a society of instant gratification. People assume they’re “owed” a certain way of life, and if they’re unwilling to work for it, their Government should provide it.  What their limited brains fail to realize is that the Government never provides anything.  It is the people who support the Government, the taxpayers that provide the way of life, not the Government.

Our Society is willing to sell its soul for crap…for another minute of the “Kardashians” and reality TV.  They want their movie stars to tell them what to do and who to worship.  This is why Obama tries so hard to be a “Star”. If he’s hangs with movie stars and appears on late night TV…never mind that he demeans the office of the Presidency when he does these thingswhen he vacations and plays golf, but doesn’t attend Homeland security meetings, he’s appealing to the lowest denominator of intelligence that seems to be over taking this Country and most importantly OVER TAKING THE VOTE!

We already know that we’re living in a Republic, not a Democracy. You know this when the majority of California Counties is conservative, except for the cities like San Francisco and Los Angeles and they control the vote, which is why California is so liberal. Our Country is predominantly conservative.  But it’s the enclaves of the cities that rule the liberal vote. Our cities are filled with people who live off of public assistance and they want to be taken care of. They want the “free cell phones” and Obama to pay their rent (i.e. you and me). What would happen to their sorry little lives if we decided to stop working? Personally, I’m shopping for an island to call my own…anyone with me?

Not only that, but they want the Government to make all the decisions for them…as if it’s too taxing to their mental capacity to be decisive and go for it. They want the government to babysit them, and tell them all the rules, and make laws so that no one gets hurt. Really People??? Why can’t you accept blame for putting your hand where it doesn’t belong and the lion bites it off?  Why do you have to have a law and signs warning you that putting your hand into the lion’s den may cause loss of limb? Correct me if I’m wrong, but the law of the jungle says the strongest survive. Right now, we’re padding the world so the weakest links of the genetic pool survives and drags everyone else down with it.  And right now…the village idiots are taking over the world!

But here’s the question I want to pose to you my friends…. How strong is your will to defend our Constitution?  What are you willing to sacrifice to defend it?  I already know that some of you have sacrificed major chunks of your lives, your family’s lives and friends defending our Constitution through military service, and for that I can never repay my indebtedness to you.  What I have been doing and what I will continue to do to honor your sacrifice is to impose my will where I can to defend my Constitution.  I will not be silent (although some of you are praying that I would be on FaceBook), and continue to raise awareness where I see our freedom being impinged upon. I will continue to use my blog to speak out about the injustices I see.  I will continue to write and call my congressmen and women and senators/assemblymen and women to make my voice heard. I’m willing to put it all on the line, including my life, so my son will live in freedom.  Because really, that’s what it’s all about, right? Keeping our Country free for our children and their progeny is really the greatest inheritance we can possibly give them.
____________________________________________
Ok, Dizzy can breathe now. Let’s have a fun topic. What are your thoughts on the HK45 Compact Tactical? It’s supposed to be the civilian version of the M24 handgun. An H&K proprietary mechanical recoil reduction system supposedly reduces the recoil forces effecting the gun and shooter by as much as 30%.  Does anyone know?  I’d be interested in trying that one out at the range.  Oh, that topic doesn’t interest you?  What do you want to discuss…sex, drugs and rock and roll?

I was with a friend this weekend and he lights up.  I have to say, I was kind of put off by that. Don’t get me wrong, he was perfectly within his right to do so as he wasn’t at my home.  I’m just not a pot smoker.  Actually, I’m pretty much a “Pollyanna” when it comes to recreational drugs.  I did extremely light experimentation in my 20’s, but that was never my Achilles heel.  My family was so much into the drug genre that I went completely opposite and used food as my addiction (and paid a heavy price for it).

I guess that maybe I should just compare it to wine, tequila and Fireball….my soothing mechanisms of choice. I don’t know why it threw me off when he did it, but it did.  I don’t mind the light smell of pot, but the heavy cloying smell that sticks to your clothes always gets to me.
__________________________________________

I forgot to blog about this last night.  When Kenny Chesney came up in the conversation with “Amy” the “Red Head”, we started a little debate on whether or not Kenny Chesney is gay. I don’t think he is, but my BFF’s “Gaydar” gives her the signal.  Amy said she wasn’t sure but it didn’t matter.

I have to agree with that. Kenny is hot.  If you’ve ever seen him performing on stage, the guy is an animal! He puts on a hell of a show. At the birthday bash, he ended up getting so drunk, but he still outperformed most artists I’ve seen.  It was a rocking show!  Is Kenny Chesney gay?  I don’t know, but I don’t care.  It wouldn’t be the first time I fell for a gay guy…i.e. high school. OMG, his name was Kenny too!  This guy was in my drama class and could out-sing and out-act any guy in the school district (that should’ve been a red flag to me). He had the perfect feathered hair and body…ah…those were the days.  I should’ve known because all of my advances (and any other girl in the school) were ignored.  Not that I was the catch of the county or anything…but. We were good friends, and he finally told me in confidence about his sexual orientation.  I was relieved….don’t ask me why.

Ok, I’m done for the evening peeps.  After pulling weeds, using the weed eater and mowing the last of the lawn, it's time to finish my soup and head to my bed. Hoping this blog finds you all well and happy.

Tired

Wow!!! It's been busy!  Yesterday I helped my friend RK put flooring down in his Sister's kitchen.  That lasted until midnight last night!!!  Holy Moly, what a pain...but if I wanted to put flooring down on my floor, at least I have an idea how!

I picked him up and took him to the airport this morning and the wingnut left his phone in my beast..this after asking him "Are you sure you have everything?" Luckily, I decided to visit my BFF TS who lives close to the airport.  I'm a few houses down from her house and I hear this strange ringtone and think WTF?  Yeah, it's RK ringing his phone asking me to bring it back to the airport.  The bitch is lucky I've known him for so many years.

After calling my BFF and letting her know why I'd be late, I took the phone back. I had a great visit with her. She makes an excellent cup of joe (Nespresso...the bomb). We caught up on all kinds of stuff and I got to check out the changes she's made to the house.  The woman has exquisite taste.  Me...I'm definitely more eclectic. She's one of those people that after you leave her, you have a spring to your step.

I thought it was funny that she didn't realize that I have an interest in things like the Monsanto Protection Act that Obama passed.  Uh, hello...everyone should have an interest when a corporation like Monsanto basically makes themselves untouchable by lawsuit if one of their products hurts a consumer and the consumer decides to litigate!!  Yes Peeps, I may be a conservative, meat consuming, gun-toting bitch, but that doesn't mean I'm not sensitive to the environment and not concerned with the food products that I consume. I love verbally sparring with my friend because she's definitely a liberal.  Makes for interesting conversation.  However, I do believe we see eye-to-eye on the important things.

I headed for home to meet with the Arborist that will be pulling stumps and cutting back on some of the trees that are blocking my solar panels. She was a really nice lady (I thought a guy was coming) and cut me a hell of a deal.  Come to find out that she's from Costa Rica and started her business with her husband and sons.  She lost her husband and one of the sons (who was a twin) 5 years ago and has been trying to run the business herself since.  The other twin isn't doing well with the loss and doesn't want to be in the business. She really struck me as a straight shooter and hard worker.  I'm looking forward to seeing what she does to the property.  I'll take before and after pictures. They come on Saturday.

I also spoke with Clear View and they'll be installing my retractable screens on Friday Afternoon. The yard cleanup guy will be here on Friday also, so it looks to be a busy day, but by the time all is said and done....I'll have over a half acre that I'll be able to maintain myself. Granted, I love to think of myself as Wonder Woman, but there's only so much one person can do and hold down a full time job and work around the house too.

I picked up my BFF KW and headed to "On The Border" this evening.  We decided we needed a margarita and some active discussion.  Lots to talk about and as we were conversing, a girl "Amy" came up to us and asked me about the shirt I was wearing. She said she had the same shirt and had never seen anyone else wearing it.  I know you "Red Heads" recognize the shirt..."Go There Once Be There Twice" and on the back it says "I Was There".  It's got various pictures of Sammy Hagar on it and is a reference to the annual Cabo Wabo Birthday Bash (I wore it with a brown mini skirt. I debated for a long time whether or not I should wear my brown cowboy boots with them...I just don't know fashion).  So the three of us sat there dishing about the different events we've attended.  She specifically brought up Kenny Chesney and asked if I was at that concert last year...why yes!  Yes I was!

We compared notes on what we thought was his greatest concert, etc.  I told her about the Hagar concert where Stevie Ray Vaughn and Double Trouble opened up for him and how the Sacramento fans booed Stevie Ray (no one can accuse Sac Crowds of having any taste). Vaughn was BY FAR the most talented musician there. It was just cool to have a Red Head come up and start the conversation like we're old friends...and in a way, we are!  It was something I would do!

Anyway Peeps, another gorgeous day in Nor Cal. I know more rain is expected this week, but as long as the weather permits me to wear my skirts...I will do so with impunity!  Although this morning it was cold, so I was wearing jeans and my Devil Dog Sweatshirt. Good thing it warmed up. For those of you in the colder parts of the Country......ha ha ha ha! I got nuthin but love for ya Baby!!!
